Meet the Hands Behind DORUZOVA

Meet the Hands Behind DORUZOVA

Every piece of DORUZOVA jewelry passes through the same two pairs of hands. No factory floor, no assembly line, no shortcuts. Just a small workshop in Slovakia, a laser machine, and a husband-and-wife team who gave up their careers to do this full time.

This is how it started, and why we make things the way we do.

From Pixels to Acrylic

We spent years as freelance graphic designers. It was good work, creative work, but our hands always needed something more tactile to do. Dominika had made beaded earrings as a teenager. Together we upcycled old furniture, renovated things other people had thrown away, built things just for the pleasure of making them.

Then, in 2018, an ad for a laser cutting machine changed everything.

The idea seemed logical at first: we could combine the design skills we already had with a tool that would open up a whole new world of making. Our initial plans were practical: wooden Christmas cards, small branded gifts for our design clients, home decor pieces like light pendants and decorative boxes. We even made a few leather and wood handbags.

But then we discovered acrylic glass. And we fell completely in love with it.

The color, the light, the way mirror acrylic catches a glance from across a room. Dominika started designing earrings almost immediately. The response was instant. So Fero joined her, and together we began the slow, deliberate shift from graphic design toward jewelry. For years we did both: designers by day, makers by night.

In late 2024, we made the choice. DORUZOVA became our full-time work, and our only one.

Why Quality Is Non-Negotiable for Us

We live in an era of things made to impress once and fall apart quietly after. Products designed to wow in a photograph and disappoint in real life. That frustrates us deeply, and it shapes everything about how we make jewelry.

We want to make this right, at least in our small corner of the world.

Acrylic glass turns out to be a perfect material for this ambition. Despite what people might assume about plastic, PMMA is extraordinarily durable, nearly indestructible under normal wear. So even though we are not making fine jewelry, we are making jewelry that can genuinely last a lifetime. A pair of earrings you buy from us today should still be as beautiful in ten years as the day they arrived.

But durability is only part of it. We believe that lasting quality and great design are inseparable. One without the other is not enough. A beautiful piece that falls apart is a disappointment. A well-made piece with nothing to say is forgettable. We refuse to accept either.

Our years in graphic design sharpened something in us: an eye for detail that is hard to switch off. We notice things most people would never see. A finish that is slightly uneven. A component not quite aligned. A color that has shifted a fraction from what it should be. These pieces never leave our workshop. Not because we think you would notice, but because we would.

That standard is not a policy. It is just how we are built.

A Small Team, on Purpose

DORUZOVA is Dominika and Fero at its core, with a small and carefully chosen team around us. We are not chasing scale. If we grow, we want to grow slowly: adding the right people, keeping the atmosphere of a close-knit workshop where everyone genuinely cares about what leaves the door. A small family of makers, not a production line.

Every piece is designed here, cut here, hand-painted here, assembled here. When you wear a DORUZOVA earring or brooch, it has been touched, checked and cared for by someone who genuinely wanted it to be right.

That will not change.
